Richard D Smith - Richard is responsible for our global business activity. Twenty years top table working with world-leading companies enables Richard to rapidly assemble leading industry specialists to tackle deeply ingrained, uniquely framed business or project challenges. Richard has previously worked on a number of interesting and innovative projects. The management of programmes and projects is his forte, having carried out numerous reviews and subsequent recoveries.
Steve Hobden - Steve is our other founding partner. His reputation and standing is built on a record of delivering innovative, progressive change across a spectrum of asset-intensive industries. His breadth of board level working and range of business contacts underpins his responsibility for the delivery of our international consulting activity.
Dave Ward OBE - Dave's standing as an internationally renowned transport expert was endorsed in 2014 by the award of his OBE. His strategic and operational skills have been widely employed across the UK’s most complex and costly transport challenges. His global reputation is founded on 35 years of leadership experience, culminating in his responsibility for 5 London Terminals, 2000 staff and a £1b budget.
David Wilks - David has over 36 years of experience working within the railway industry, having held a number of senior engineering, management and leadership roles. He possesses extensive experience in asset management, infrastructure maintenance, railway operations and strategic and change management programmes. He has proven track record for getting results through the development of teams and introducing major change programmes effectively and to demanding time-scales.
Toyin Davies FIMechE, FAPM - Toyin is one of tusp’s Senior Consultants. She has a particularly strong background in the delivery of Rolling Stock and Infrastructure Projects across both the UK and Europe, such as station redevelopment, line speed upgrades, railway resignalling, depot upgrades, service control centre works, rolling stock infrastructure compatibility, vehicle change and train maintenance, reliability, testing and commissioning. She has worked on some of the largest projects in Europe such as the Victoria Line Upgrade, the Eurotunnel, Arlanda Rail Link, Thameslink and, more recently, HS2.
Chris Baines - Chris is an established executive who has operated at a senior level within a number of public and private sector organisations. He is committed to achieving a high level of client satisfaction with each project he undertakes. He possesses an expert level of knowledge concerning the Rail, Construction and Utilities sectors.
Catriona McIntyre - Catriona is a pragmatic, experienced HR and business consultant with a commercial and practical approach who builds outstanding relationships at all levels. She is a strategic thinker with excellent communication, influencing and change management skills. A real benefit to any organisation who will hit the ground running and therefore will add instant value.
Mark Gore - An established senior executive with proven expertise in strategic planning, change management and collaborative leadership gained as Commander and Chief of the Metropolitan Police and as the Head of National Transport Coordination Centre London 2012 Games. Responsible for the management of major critical incidents across London and the operational command for both planned and unplanned events.
Bob Hazell - Now delivering major project reviews and investigations, Bob is an industry respected railway infrastructure engineer with 40 years’ experience of asset management including expertise in track and infrastructure maintenance as well as track design and track renewals. With an extensive career in UK rail, he has evolved and been a part of the evolution of the network.
Malcolm Thomson - Malcolm is a highly experienced safety and rail industry professional. He has operated at the highest levels during his career, and in recent years has held senior health and safety positions with Network Rail. Malcolm thrives on generating improvements and freely shares his vast industry knowledge in order to improve the industry and ensure we learn lessons from accidents and incidents.
David Smith - David has been successfully involved in Purchasing and Supply Chain Management at a Senior Strategic level within many International Blue Chip manufacturing companies, having operated in the UK, Europe and the USA. For many years he has been developing his enthusiastic and motivational approach to bring modern procurement process changes.
Richard Fisher - Richard is an entrepreneurial transport professional with a diverse background in operational and commercial management. He has a broad range of experience in rail transport strategic development, providing a breadth of quality advice to clients in areas such as New Railway Specification, Franchise Specification, Investment Project Business Case Development, Franchise Bidding, Bid Evaluation and Mobilisation, Programme Management, Commercial, Contractual and Regulatory Advice, and Performance improvement.
Mike Carr - Mike is a senior railway specialist who is solutions focused, with significant experience in railway operations and health & safety. With a successful track record in the leadership and implementation of strategic health, safety and operational policies, processes and standards, he mitigates risks and maximises performance within large scale organisations. Mike is highly adept in identifying railway operational risk and developing strategic solutions to reduce business exposure. He has experience in risk management, strategic planning, safety audits, accident investigation and incident management.
Mark Whitaker - Mark is a senior commercial and operations professional with considerable experience at strategic and operational levels. He is an expert in security, risk, crisis and incident management, with major project leadership experience in both public and private sectors. He has experience in the management, training and development of high performing teams, producing world class operational, commercial and contractual performance. He gained significant experience as TfL’s Head of Operations for multiple departments, successfully managing incidents and events across London.
Richard George - Richard is an extremely experienced business professional, taking on Managing Director, Major Project Director and Plc Main Board roles in the Transport and Engineering Sectors. Currently Non-executive Chair of DOHL, he has previously taken on responsibility for the management direction and profitability for the Interfleet Group of companies, which included over 1000 staff members worldwide. Richard was responsible to LOCOG and the IOC for the co-ordinated delivery of all aspects of Games time Transport for the Olympic and Paralympic Games in London 2012.
Eugene Kok - Eugene is an IT, data and project controls specialist with the ability to design and develop solutions from concept to delivery and translate these into customer requirements. Eugene is an expert at analysing problems and developing and implementing creative solutions, as well as producing methodologies and effective data management frameworks. He has extensive experience as a dashboard developer and infographic designer, developing extensive reports in Power Bi and Power Queries, together with developing and manipulating large amounts of data in Excel and Access databases.
Mike O'Connell - Mike is a strong, charismatic, and inspirational leader with excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to change and influence others. He has over thirty-five years at the sharp end of commercial life, most of which has been spent at or reporting to Executive level. He has extensive experience of the commercial management of projects in transportation, telecommunication, and construction industries. Mike has a strong understanding of contract law, working on standard contracts such as NEC and JCT contract suites as well as developing unique, complex, and bespoke contracts to meet clients needs.
Andrew Harrison - Andrew is a highly experienced SHEQ Management professional with 20+ years’ experience implementing Management systems. He has specialised industry knowledge within Construction, Rail, Renewable Energy, Oil & Gas, upstream Geophysical and Geotechnical survey, on land and offshore worldwide and locally in the North Sea. He is experienced in the development and implementation of Behavioural Safety Management and has led and developed a number of safety improvement initiatives as well as being involved in root cause analysis and serious incident investigation work, where he has acted as liaison with Government regulators on behalf of his clients.
Arith Liyanage - Arith is a significantly experienced Director who has gained extensive expertise in major infrastructure and utilities business within the UK and overseas. Arith is an expert in construction, project management, contract management and business improvement. He has led business improvement throughout his career, in particular the reshaping of failing businesses to achieve impressive results in terms of safety, delivery and quality improvements, as well as driving P&L success.
Peter Dearman CEng FPWI FIET - Peter is a highly qualified Electrical and Mechanical Rail Engineer with a background in traction electrification. He began his career at British Rail in 1970 and now has extensive experience in rail engineering and operations. Peter has held senior and varied roles within British Rail, Railtrack and Network Rail and in private sector contractors and consultancies. He was responsible for defining the engineering framework and strategic development of the 2009 UK Network Electrification Programme and has been instrumental in the delivery of electric traction projects in the UK, France, Denmark, New Zealand and Dubai.
