Barking Riverside

The Project: Barking Riverside is a major project along the bank of the River Thames. It is a 4.5km rail extension of the London Overground to Barking Riverside. The extension is required to support 10,800 new homes. Construction began early in 2019 following an extensive design period and is still ongoing. It is estimated that the first train services will operate from late 2021. Overall, the project will deliver a 4.5km track extension, a new train station, a reconfiguration of Network Rail’s Ripple Lane goods yard and the construction of two viaducts.

tusp’s Work Scope: tusp currently provide Project Delivery services to the Barking Riverside Project. This comes through Project Management, Construction Management, Planning and Project Interface support. We are assisting Network Rail and the Principal Contractor to deliver the works to scope and within the dictated budget.

Technical Capability: Our Management and Possession Planning Specialists are responsible for:

  • Project Management Provision, ensuring the work scopes are met to budget and Network Rail assets are protected.

  • Provision of construction management advice at pre-possession planning meetings.

  • Provision of site inspections and audits to ensure good levels of safety, quality, environment and engineering compliance are achieved.

  • Management of interfaces and deconfliction during site delivery.

  • Preparation of implementation strategies for the construction management processes.

  • Compilation and monitoring of possession application plans.

  • Collation of information to generate enabling notices to relevant parties in regard to possession items.

  • Reporting on possession utilisation and associated delivery costs.
