Richard Smith – Group Managing Director
Richard is a highly experienced Business Director, motivated in operating and interfacing at board level. Richard thrives on the achievement of targets to strict deadlines. He has a primary responsibility for managing our continued growth in both the UK and global market and has overseen the significant recent growth in the company turnover within the UK rail market.
Richard is a very keen golfer, he also enjoys watching his daughters equestrian events.
Steve Hobden – Managing Director – Consulting
Steve is a co-owner of tusp, he is an experienced company director with a proven track record of delivering value through managing major change initiatives. Steve has worked in the many asset intensive industries with extensive experience in the rail industry. He has a primary responsibility for the growth of our consulting side of the business, which was the foundation of the company from its conception in 2000.
Steve likes to watch his team Chelsea as well as his daughter learning to ride horses.
Dave Ward OBE – Senior Programme Director
An accomplished executive leader, with over 35 years experience in the UK Rail Industry. Awarded an OBE in the New Years honours list 2015, in recognition of a breadth of achievements within the UK Rail Industry, covering Infrastructure management, operations, programme management, business unit transformation. Comfortable communicating and being effective at all levels within an organisation, and an accomplished media trained, speaker and presenter. Experienced negotiator, which has been gained at all, levels, including Trade Unions, Government departments up to ministerial level, large multinational and small railway infrastructure suppliers.
David Smith – Commercial Director
David has been successfully involved in Purchasing and Supply Chain Management at a Senior Strategic level within many International Blue chip manufacturing companies having operated in the UK, Europe and the USA. For many years he has been developing his enthusiastic and motivational approach to bring modern Procurement process changes and cost down activities to companies looking to move from traditional and outdated methods to the highly demanding procurement focus set by areas such as automotive and aerospace.
David is a keen follower of all sports and is a season ticket holder at Nottingham Forest having coached football at a junior level for many years as a qualified Junior FA coach. In his younger days he was a drummer with an R & B band.He also likes to fit in a round of golf when he can.
Malcolm Thomson – Technical Services Director
Malcolm is a highly experienced safety and rail industry professional, he has operated at the highest levels during his career, in recent years he has held senior health and safety positions with Network Rail. Malcolm thrives on generating improvements and freely shares his vast industry knowledge in he quest to improve the industry and ensure we learn lessons from accidents and incidents. He will be leading tusp’s drive to develop a technical service offering to our clients, this will range from health, safety, environmental, sustainability and investigation services.
Malcolm is a Member of Northampton Saints Rugby and a Member of Northamptonshire County Cricket Club. He has supported the development of young cricketers for a number of years. Playing and watching golf is another area of recreation when time permits.
Jeff Paul – Business Development Director
Jeff has held a number of senior roles on some of the UK’s major projects including Crossrail and Thames Tunnel. More recently he has been heading up a national rail team where he has developed new business and supported framework wins. In Parallel Jeff has just finished 2 ½ years as Alliance Head of HSSE, on the Network Rail GNGE Alliance. This role has seen him steer the project to ‘Outstanding Safety Performance’ at the NR National VIP Awards where a number of step-changes were implemented to drive safety performance.
Jeff supports TUSP as Business Development Director using his experience to further grow the company in the rail sector, specifically looking to develop managed services offerings. Jeff’s first appointment will be on HS2 as Head of Safety Development and is keen to deliver this role and potentially grow TUSP into supporting further appointments.
Away from work Jeff enjoys supporting his boys budding football careers and his daughter’s passion for horses. Jeff is also the co-founder of a local charity support his local community.
Kunal Rastogi – Junior Management Consultant
Kunal comes from a science background with a doctorate in Chemistry. He has project delivery experience within the pharmaceutical industry and has joined the team because of a keen interest in project management and works closely with Richard to provide bespoke solutions to our clients. He is passionate about R&D methodologies and possesses an aptitude for sales and management.
In his spare time, Kunal enjoys playing and promoting sports. With other sports minded individuals, he has introduced ‘Kho Kho’ (traditional Indian game) in the UK and has successfully organised several national and international championship games and wishes to take his team to the Olympics.
Fiona Lee – Operations ManagerFiona is responsible for the supervision and day to day running of the office and staff.Fiona has many years experience as a Business Banking Manager and is passionate about Customer Service and exceeding expectations.Fiona wants to ensure we deliver excellence and get it right first time, every time.Out of work Fiona enjoys movies, especially sci-fi and thrillers, reading, particularly thrillers, detective stories and horror, gardening in fine weather and preferably with a barbecue involved and last but not least Shopping (for anything).
Carolyn Sims – Recruitment Consultant
Carolyn is part of the team within the Ashford office. Her main activity is creating new business leads, maintaining existing relationships and supporting tendering activity and marketing. She also resources candidates and matches them to advertised roles.
Carolyn enjoys travelling, walking her dog (Marley) and spending time with family and friends.
Katul Patel – Business Development and Marketing Consultant
Katul is part of the team within the Ashford office. His main activity is supporting the Business Development Manager on creating new business leads, tendering for the company and marketing duties, as well as the social media activity within the business.
Katul enjoys playing cricket, travelling around the world, and spending time playing Hockey.
Peter Moore – Recruitment Consultant
Peter is a recruitment Consultant who will be the lead contact when applying for any of our roles.
He will keep in regular contact with candidates through telephone calls, text messaging and email and ensure our latest jobs are being advertised straight away and kept refreshed.
In his spare time Peter is a keen follower of Formula one motor racing and enjoys going to the theatre.
Robin Love – Sales Manager
Robin is the tusp Sales Manager, he is responsible for client contact and generating new business and relationships, together with securing new work for tusp.
In his spare time Robin enjoys gardening, travelling and spending time with his family.
Debbie Hughes – Accounts Manager
Debbie is our Accounts Manager who is responsible for managing all incoming time sheets, invoices and expenses as well as raising invoices and keeping a keen eye on every detail to ensure payments are made correctly.
Debbie has a strong background in Construction and managing time sheets, site-based workers, and invoicing. Debbie is a keen gardener, loves to read and look after her 5 adorable grandchildren in her spare time.
Lisa Denne – Recruitment Consultant
Lisa joined tusp in 2015 as our business administration apprentice and worked her way up to one of our recruitment consultants. She is responsible for dealing with new candidates and working them through the recruitment process.
Angie Squire – Quality Assurance Manager
Angie is part of the team within the Ashford office. Her main responsibility is to ensure all our commercial documentation including contracts are correct and up to date. Angie also maintains our ISO9001 Accreditation and undertakes internal auditing to ensure all our processes and procedures are being adhered to.Angie comes from a background in the nuclear industry where she was a Commercial Specialist .Outside of work Angie enjoys walking her dog, spending time with family and watching movies.
