HS2 announces shortlist for Phase 2
HS2 has recently announced two new contracts for Phase 2. The first contract being Civil design and environmental services between Crewe to Manchester. Also involving the service from Birmingham to Leeds and the route from Sheffield and East Midlands.
HS2 states that the three joint ventures that are on the shortlist are; Mott MacDonald and WSP Parsons Brinckerhoff; and Atkins and Arcadis; Aecom, Capita and Ineco. In addition, the sole bidder Arup has also been shortlisted.
The Chief Executive of HS2 Simon Kirby, states, “it’s so important that we get the right team on board to help us develop the design and environmental assessment that supports obtaining the hybrid bill powers” and stresses the importance of this project that “HS2 will be Britain’s largest infrastructure development”.
The second contract which HS2 have announced is for the development partner to support submission and developments of the HS2 phase 2 Hybrid Bll in 2019.The companies that have been shortlisted are CH2M, Bechtel and a joint venture between Mace and Turner & Townsend.
