9th October 08

I am currently working for Network Rail within their 2012 Programme, specifically on the North London Line Rail Infrastructure Project.

Monday

Early start, journey to work was pleasant with a leisurely walk from Camden Town to Chalk Farm, allowing me to pick up a medium latte for my excessive exertions

Monday was, generally, a day of preparation, aside from a meeting first thing to determine ecology consent requirements across all of the work packages within the NLRIP project.  The remainder of the day panned out well, ensuring a solid foundation for the remainder of my week.  All actions and deliverables proceeding to plan

Tuesday

Started with a presentation on the “Working within Possessions Work Instruction”.  My colleagues and I have made significant progress in delivering against this requirement, providing a number of tools and approaches that have delivered real operational benefits, by removing ambiguity and automating a number of process steps.

Wednesday

The day started with some uncertainty on the best way of getting to work due to the 48 hour tube strike.  Having checked on the TFL web site, whilst on my over ground rail journey, I noted that a good service was still operating on the Northern Line.  The journey into work was far better than normal!  The working day saw the progression of a number of key deliverables, specifically around Programme Controls.

Thursday

I knew it wouldn’t last; the journey into work was onerous to say the least.  A good service was in operation on the Northern Line, but news had got out and it seemed that everyone in London wanted to use the Northern Line.  Having being turned away from the tube at London Bridge, I walked to Bank and caught the tube from there.
Every Thursday the infrastructure part of NLRIP have there weekly PDR, this is an invaluable session which allows the wider team to raise any concerns and constraints for address.  I chair this session, ensuring that presentations are to the point and the salient points are elevated.  Suffice to say that progress has been extremely positive

Friday

Friday was a day of readiness, ensuring that all preparatory works and products had been concluded in readiness for our next significant possession works on the weekend of week 13.
